Updated UI & New Linux Version

JamSoft has been quiet for a little while now but that doesn’t mean we haven’t been busy little penguins.

Since we last posted we have been extremely busy working on a major overhaul of SampleSort in order to be able to go cross-platform and offer SampleSort to even more users.

Today we have made this new version – 1.5.1765 – available to download on both Windows & Linux. We hope all our users enjoy this new update.

User Interface

The user interface has been entirely rebuilt from the ground up. The application is now snappier and responsive than ever. Existing features have been refined and given a new lick of paint. We’re very proud of the results and hope you see the benefits of an overal faster application and easier to use UI.

Linux

This latest release of SampleSort is now also available to Linux users in both Debian and RPM packages for x86-x64 based distributions.

As Linux users will know there are a huge number of desktop environments and different distributions that make up the overal Linux eco-system. We have been testing these packages extensively prior to release and feel confident enough to make them generally available.

The packages have been tested and verified on the following flavours of Linux:

  • Debian 12.5
  • Fedora 39
  • PopOS 22.04
  • Ubuntu 24.04
  • OpenSUSE Tumbleweed (snapshot – 2024/06/24)
  • Linx Mint w/Cinnamon 21.3
  • Manjaro 24.0.2 KDE/Plasma (debtap conversion of the deb package)

The list of potential test OSes is huge in the Linux eco-system and we will be continuing to increase the number of distros we have tested on as time and resources permit.

MacOS

We are hoping to have a MacOS version available for download shortly. Now released!
