With any database its always possible to export the data into an easy to consume format that is independant of the application that created it.
Once you have made a backup of a database it is also possible to restore the same database over the current database.

This has to be used with some caution as it is possible to restore an old database that may have older contents than the current database. An easy way to ensure this isn't an issue is to perform a backup each time you scan your machine or make large changes to the contents of the database.

The SampleSort database is where all the information about the files SampleSort has found on your machine is stored in and retrieved from. The application works from a single repository of data that can be backed-up via the applications UI. This keeps things simple on the data side of things and enables the application to keep in sync.
